Rodolfo Aníbal Lobo Carrasco, who completed his doctorate in applied mathematics in April 2021, under the guidance of Prof. Marcos Eduardo Ribeiro do Valle Mesquita, was awarded 1st place in the category of best doctoral thesis at the XV Brazilian Congress of Computational Intelligence (CBIC 21). The award-winning doctoral thesis entitled “Hypercomplex-Valued Recurrent Neural Networks and their Applications for Image Reconstruction and Pattern Classification” deals with artificial neural networks and hypercomplex number algebras with applications in image processing and pattern classification.
